Magazine "MINIMATA" (MESSAGES)

Schooling, as an institution, has been an issue of many controversies and debates. Within school, children learn to collaborate, to emulate, to solve problems deriving from the contact with their classmates, to respect, to endure, to contend, to think, to create, to enjoy, to foster their skills, to express themselves, to develop academically, socially and emotionally, so that they feel secure and members of the school community. School is the socialising agent that conveys knowledge, values and principles to the students to become responsible members of our society.

Publication of our school journal, entitled “Minimata” (Messages) aims at strenghtening the relationship between school and society. Its purpose is to record the thoughts and activities of the school children, the school graduates, the educational staff and anybody who would like to contribute.

Even from the first publication, the great interest leaves room for optimistic “Minimata” that we hope to provide with meaning our school and local community.

We live in an era characterized by rapid and competitive developments. Simultaneously, family and social institutions are at a stake. At this difficult moment, school is required to develop the student’s personalities, so that they can make the right decisions in their lives, without losing their orientation.

Society, parents, school are all responsible for the moral decline that disorientates our children who find themselves trapped in a dead end. The only solution is -and fortunately we all agree- EDUCATION.

It is education that will help our children develop aspirations, emotions and experiences working through culture and civilisation.

A “cultural cell” emerges slowly and tries to find its readers: It is the quarterly school journal, entitled “Minimata” (Messages). Students and school staff will work collaboratively to foster cultural events in our country and elsewhere.

I strongly believe that we have to support this effort for our children’ sake.
