GOAL:

Students will develop their language skills and learn about extinct animals.

 

OBJECTIVES:

Students will:

  • Learn what extinct and endangered mean.

  • Identify some extinct animals & learn about their habitat, diet, anatomy and fossil location.

  • Develop an understanding of extinction.

  • Increase their awareness of how our actions (such as pollution and conservation) can affect others.

  • Learn terminology related to “extict animals” (such as anatomy, predators).

  • Develop critical thinking and cooperative learning skills.

  • Construct a scrap book with “extinct animals”.

  • Identify flags and locations of extinct animals in the world map.

Special flags constructed by the children.

 

 

 

METHODOLOGY:

  • Activation of prior knowledge.

  • Mediation activity (text written in Greek with specific terminology in both English and Greek).

  • Quiz in English.

  • Construction of flags (the habitat of the extinct animal) and extinct animal pictures.

OUTCOMES:

  • A scrap book with extinct animals and a cover designed with the use of the P.C.

  • A world map covered with flags and pictures of extinct animals.

  • A photo of students with their books and the map.
